What's in this Guide?

Use this guide however it is most useful to you. The links and sources provided here are suggestions and are by no means all that are available to you. Feel free to contact me anytime you have questions, course-related or not. My door is always open.

  • Using the Library
Basic information about services available at The Ames Library.
  • Resources & Scientific Communication
Scientists work in a variety of forums, not all of which may be appropriate for your research. Learn about the different types of resources available to you as an IWU student (books, movies, articles, etc.).
  • Professional Organizations
Professional societies and organizations are excellent ways to connect with other professionals. Many have their own discipline-specific publications.
  • Research Skills
Research is a dynamic process that doesn't always move in a straight line. Leave yourself plenty of time to work on each project so you can produce the best product possible.
  • Managing Citations
Citations help you give credit where credit is due and citation managers help you keep track of the various sources used for your research.
